Welcome to Sugar Swirls & Sprinkles. I’m Claire, a self-taught baker who began baking and decorating cakes from a very young age as my Mum will confess, she wasn’t the best baker and was more than happy for me to take over the kitchen to create something sweet for the family to enjoy (including my own birthday cakes). I’m constantly learning and trying new things and love the challenge that every cake brings.
Designing and creating cakes to compliment your special occasion and milestones including (but not limited to) birthdays, graduations, baby showers, gender reveals and unveilings allows me to bring your cake dreams to life. All our cakes, cupcakes, fudges, brownie, cookies and fillings are baked from scratch and decorations are handmade in our Council registered and approved home kitchen. I work with your health and safety in mind, following strict hygiene practices.

Because our council fully registered kitchen is in our home, we do not allow walk-ins at any time. If you have a cake pick up scheduled, we will send you our address. Personal consultations are by appointment only
When you have made your enquiry, we’ll send you some cake sizes and prices. You choose what suits you best and we’ll send you an invoice
A one third (1/3) non-refundable deposit is required to secure your order, then the remaining balance must be made no later than 14 days before your order is due. We only accept bank transfers and all the details will be on your invoice. Please let us know if you would like to pay in installments. As soon as your payment is received you will be sent a receipt. If you make a payment and you have not received a receipt within 48 hours, please get in touch
Every cake is different and personal so we don’t have a standard pricing list. Modelling sugar work such as animal and people figurines, sculpting and shaping cakes takes time which is reflected in the cost. What we can tell you is that our full buttercream cakes (with piped buttercream and sprinkles) start from $100, our chocolate overload drip cakes start from $110 and cakes with modelled toppers start from $150. We will be able to give you a clearer quote once we receive your enquiry form and work together to create the perfect cake for your event

All cake orders can be picked up from our kitchen in Stokes Valley at an agreed time. Delivery may be possible for a fee, so please ask. Please note that because we bake the cakes from scratch, hand make the decorations and work full time at outside jobs, pickups will be after 5pm Monday – Fridays and Saturdays are between 9:30am and 11am. All other times are negotiable and subject to availability, including deliveries
Our kitchen works with gluten, wheat, dairy, eggs and nuts on a daily basic so there is always risk of contamination, therefore we are unable to cater for gluten free and major intolerances. Please feel free to discuss your dietary needs with us
Cakes have two main serving sizes – small finger portions (1” x 1” x height) and standard (1” x 2” x height). All our cakes have a minimum height of 4”. We will give you recommendations based on the standard size but it is up to you depending on your budget and how much you love cake. Also remember that not all your guests will eat cake
Everyone is different and have different tastes. Some designs require fondant and during the summer months it is best to avoid buttercream. We will guide you on the best finish for your cake, taking into consideration your design ideas and personal tastes. We do not offer fresh cream or cream cheese options due to their heat sensitivity
Oh yes! You can mix and match your cake and/or filing flavours to suit your taste buds (or indecision). We will guide you on the best way to stack different flavours as some cakes work better than others
We make cupcakes to compliment your theme or simply as a box of yummy sweet treats to enjoy or gift. We can even make personalised fondant toppers for them, and they come in standard size or minis.
We also offer other sweet treats such as brownie, fudge, sugar cookies and slices. Sorry we do not make our own macarons but can buy them in for you or put you in touch with macaron artists
Absolutely. We can work with you to create a custom topper for you to put on your own baked cake. Simply fill out the enquiry form with all the details. Please note that while our 3 dimensional toppers are made from fully edible ingredients and rigorous handwashing practices are followed, we recommend against your guests consuming them due to the intricate work put into them, meaning they are handled regularly during construction. They make wonderful keepsake pieces if kept out of direct sunlight and we can give you full instructions on their storage and care
